Matching Numbers Motor & Trans New 2-Stage Atoll Blue Finish
STK 3039 1970 Pontiac GTO
The GTO remains one of the most popular muscle cars of all time. Pontiac introduced the concept in 1964 and the second-gen GTO debuted for the '68 model year. It was based on the mid-size Lemans chassis with potent engine/suspension upgrades and GTO body visual enhancements. The second-gen GTO was somewhat larger than the original, but a much better all-around car. According to the VIN, our 2-owner 1970 GTO convertible is a '42 code' factory GTO. The current owner (22 years) has restored the car to virtually better-than-showroom condition. A new 2-stage finish of Atoll Blue was professionally applied in 2021 and is stunning. Exterior enhancements include dual hood scoops, hood tach, 'GTO' trim and Pontiac Rally II wheels w/BFGoodrich Radial T/A tires. The Black vinyl bucket seat interior has been fully restored (1999) to original and is in good condition. A beautiful wood grain/turned metal dash is accented by a Pontiac 'Tans AM' style wheel on a tilt column. The power convertible top looks virtually new and all window glass is tinted. The owner states and it has been verified that the Pontiac 400cid motor is numbers-matching and is factory rated at 350hp and 455 lb/ft. The original motor has been modified (heads, intake & carburetor have been replace/modified) and sounds just as a GTO should. This 400 is backed by a rebuilt 4-speed Muncie M20 manual transmission (also numbers-matching) w/Hurst shifter and posi-traction differential with 3.73:1 performance gearing. A nicely detailed chassis is equipped with power steering, power disc/drum brakes, stainless exhaust and new fuel tank. The current owner is ready to pass this beautiful Goat on to the next lucky caretaker and when you purchase an authentic '42 code' GTO in this condition, you will not go wrong. ALL VEHICLES SOLD “AS IS”.
